How to paint a floor

Painting a floor is a simple way to lift the look of the whole room - you won't believe the difference it makes! It's not just wooden floorboards which can be painted with International Quick Drying Floor Paint. You can smarten up stone, concrete or brick floors too. Use International Concrete Sealer on concrete and brick surfaces before adding the topcoat, however, or you'll find that particles loosen and flake away bringing the paint with them.

You will need...

Other things to get...

  1. Paint brush
  2. Paint Roller
  3. A clean cloth

Step by step

  • To paint your floorboards, first sand down to give an abraded surface for the paint to stick to. Wipe clean with a cloth after sanding to remove any dirt or debris that will affect the paint finish.
  • With a brush or roller, paint a coat of Quick Drying Floor Paint, being careful not to paint yourself into a corner- start at the furthest point and make your way towards the door!
  • Leave to dry- a good time margin is painting one coat in the morning and overcoating late afternoon, or leave overnight if you have time. Just make sure you leave 6 hours between coats. If any dirt has settled, wipe it away with a cloth so it doesn't spoil the next coat.
  • Leave until totally dry before you move furniture onto the floor, but lift it on: International Quick Drying Floor Paint is tough and hard wearing but if it's not left to harden up for a few weeks before furniture is dragged across it the surface may be damaged.
