No paint can compensate for a low quality or poorly prepared substrate. Before you begin painting, the floor surface must always be in a sound condition: clean, dry and free from dirt, grease or other contaminants.
Bare concrete: A brittle surface layer of salt and dust develops when concrete dries which must be removed before painting. To remove, brush thoroughly with a wire brush. The floor should then be sealed with International Concrete Sealer.
New concrete: Allow newly laid concrete to dry for at least 1 month. Then treat as bare concrete.
Bare brick and stone: Remove all loose and flaking material by wire brushing. Dust clean surface. Seal with International Concrete Sealer.
Previously painted concrete, brick and stone: Brush thoroughly with a wire brush to remove loose and flaking paint.
Bare wood: Sand the surface. If required, seal knots with International Knotting Solution.
Previously painted wood: remove loose or flaking paint. Treat areas of bare surface as above.
