Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and other contaminants.
Bare wood: Sand smooth and wipe clean. Apply a proprietary clear wood preservative according to the manufacturer's instructions, and allow to dry. Knots may be sealed where necessary with International Knotting Solution.
Bare metal: Ensure the surface is free from surface rust and contamination. If the surface is rusty, wire brush thoroughly before priming.
Previously painted surfaces: Remove any flaking or blistered paint/rust. Clean sound paintwork, for example with International Easy Sand.
Uneven or damaged surfaces: Make good with proprietary filler. Leave putty for at least 2 days before overcoating.
Rotten wood: Cut out rotten wood, replace with sound timber, and then treat as bare wood.
Grey weathered wood: Thoroughly sand back to sound timber, then treat as bare wood.
How to use
Stir well with a broad stirring stick to the bottom of the can. This is essential to ensure an even colour and finish.
Apply 2 coats on bare surfaces using a natural bristle brush or roller suitable for gloss paints, working well into joints and end grain.
Only 1 coat is required for application as an undercoat on previously painted surfaces.
Cleaning
Remove as much paint as possible from brushes before cleaning. For best results use Polycell Brush Cleaner.
